Plan notes
Useful context before you go
This compact trip runs from Los Angeles to the San Jose area, with Cupertino as the base. The creator’s Frontier Go Wild Pass flight came to less than $31 out of pocket, and she says the flight took about 52 minutes. That was her particular fare, not a guaranteed price: she describes domestic pass bookings as available the day before departure when seats are available, with a one-cent fare plus taxes and government fees. Bags and seat selection can cost extra. Her Frontier Mastercard experience included two free checked bags for primary cardholders; she also described spending at least $1,000 within the first 30 to 90 days to unlock Gold status, which she used for a free carry-on, standard seat selection, priority boarding and an exit-row seat. Check current pass availability, card terms and fees before relying on those benefits. At LAX, allow extra time for economy-lot parking, shuttle transfers and terminal changes. The creator encountered delays with the parking app and had to transfer between terminals during construction; her flight departed from the international terminal after a security and shuttle transfer. The economy lot had EV chargers. Her hotel parking charge was $10 during her stay. Verify current parking charges, flight arrangements and hotel inclusions before travel.

What is in this plan
Day 1: Fly to Silicon Valley and explore Santana Row
After arriving in the San Jose area, head to Cupertino to check in, then make time for Santana Row’s outdoor shops, dining and architecture. It’s a good place to stroll and people-watch, and the creator paired the district with lunch at Dumpling Time Santana Row (378 Santana Row, Suite 1035). She ordered seaweed salad and shrimp toast, which she called the best she had ever had.
-
Los Angeles International AirportLos Angeles International Airport, Los Angeles, California
Allow extra time if parking in the economy lot or changing terminals. The creator encountered a slow parking-app process and needed a shuttle transfer between terminals during construction. Her Frontier departure involved security and another shuttle transfer to the international terminal; check your own flight’s terminal and leave a generous buffer. The economy lot had EV chargers.
-
Courtyard by Marriott San Jose CupertinoCourtyard by Marriott San Jose Cupertino, Cupertino, California
The Courtyard in Cupertino was the creator’s base instead of downtown San Jose. Her rate included breakfast for two on both days, and the room had a balcony; the property also has a pool and outdoor fire pit. She reported a $10 parking charge during her stay. Confirm current rates and inclusions when booking.
-
Santana RowSantana Row, San Jose, California
This outdoor shopping and dining district is worth a visit for its architecture and people-watching as well as its shops. The creator enjoyed walking around in the sunshine. For lunch, Dumpling Time Santana Row is at 378 Santana Row, Suite 1035; she had seaweed salad and shrimp toast there and especially praised the shrimp toast.
Day 2: Apple Park and the Winchester Mystery House
Visit the Apple Park Visitor Center, then continue to the Winchester Mystery House. The mansion is across the street from Santana Row, making it easy to pair a tour with a meal or another stroll through the district.
-
Apple Park Visitor CenterApple Park Visitor Center, Cupertino, California
The visitor center has an Apple Store and a small cafe. The main Apple campus is secure and cannot be seen from the street, so use the visitor center for the public-facing experience rather than expecting access to the campus.
-
Winchester Mystery HouseWinchester Mystery House, San Jose, California
Tour this Victorian mansion for its unusual doors and staircases. Video filming is not allowed on the tour, though photos are permitted. Its location across the street from Santana Row makes it easy to pair with dining or shopping there.
