A 4-Day Adults-Only All-Inclusive Escape in Costa Mujeres

Check into Ocean Allure Costa Mujeres. A Privilege room provides a private check-in and butler assistance; the reported stay cost was about $350 per night for two, with Privilege roughly $80 more per day than a standard room.

Start with the resort overview: the activity pool, wave pool, lazy river, wedding gazebo water area, main party pool, and Privilege pool are all laid out within a relatively compact property.

Reserve or access the Sunset Bar infinity pool on the rooftop of a Privilege building. The pool stays open until 8 p.m., but the bar was reported to close at 6 p.m., so bring or order drinks before the bar cutoff and enjoy the east-facing light rather than expecting a true beach sunset.

Have the first dinner at the Privilege Restaurant. Staff specifically recommended its steak over the separate steakhouse; the surf-and-turf meal included crispy shrimp with curry sauce, filet over pasta, lobster, ribeye, and a highly praised baklava-style dessert.

Stop at the Piano Bar for a nightcap after dinner. It sits along the route toward the accommodation buildings and is a calmer evening option before resort entertainment.

Inspect the Privilege Junior Suite with nature view. The room included a king bed, balcony Jacuzzi, two closets, steamer, safe, minibar, coffee station, desk, rainfall and handheld shower, dual sinks, robes, slippers, and a pillow menu.

Grab cappuccinos at the Privilege Lounge before heading outside. Privilege access makes this a convenient early breakfast-drink stop.

Choose a quiet breakfast at Los Crowley's buffet. Options included eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, made-to-order omelets, fresh fruit, juices, stewed pork, chilaquiles, and pastries; the bacon was tasty but not especially crisp.

Float the Lazy River using the complimentary resort tubes. It is shorter than some lazy rivers but has a current, bridges, waterfalls about every few minutes, and a swim-up bar; the waterfalls help with the midday heat.

Take lunch at the Privilege Restaurant and try the Time and Again cocktail, made with gin, lemon juice, passion fruit puree, thyme, and fizz. The tofu dish and vegetarian pasta were available, although the tapioca risotto accompaniment was unavailable during the documented visit.

Order coffee at Mike's Cafe below the lobby. Ask for a glass or mug if you plan to sit and enjoy it; otherwise drinks may arrive in paper or plastic cups. The cafe also serves sandwiches, wraps, sweets, fruit, and a cold brew mixed with passion fruit juice and ginger ale.

Dine at Blue Moon, the French restaurant. Have the Privilege butler reserve ahead; notable orders included rack of lamb, lobster tail, French onion soup, crab bisque, banana Napoleon, and the cucumber-forward Amanir cocktail. The lamb and banana dessert were the strongest recommendations.

Claim an early lounger at the Main Pool. At 8 a.m. the pool and surrounding chairs were nearly empty, making this the easiest time to choose a prime spot without aggressive towel saving.

Relax at the Privilege Pool, where early-morning chair availability was also excellent. Water stations offered normal water and chlorophyll water even before the bars opened.

Try the Privilege omelet at breakfast, topped and filled with lobster and served with dill sauce. The French toast was also praised, while this breakfast had noticeably crispier bacon than the buffet.

Find the palapa at the far southern end of the resort beach. It was about a minute from the seafood restaurant bar, offered deep shade and a breeze, and had soft sand with plenty of room to spread out. Some seaweed was present but did not prevent swimming or beach time.

Stop at the main Beach Bar for a drink before the spa. Servers may take orders directly on the beach, and the bar has swings. Remember that the documented operating hours ended around 6 p.m.

Book the hydrotherapy spa session. The standout feature was the large pool with multiple jets and showers, including one powerful jet compared to an elephant hose. The sauna came first and may feel unnecessary in already hot, humid weather.

Eat lunch at Pez Dama, the beachfront seafood restaurant. Try chips with guacamole and pico, ceviche, aguachile with heart of palm and artichoke, ribs, or the whole fried fish. The green sauce is exceptionally hot, so start with only a tiny amount.

Return to the Sunset Bar for shaded afternoon drinks. The tamarind margarita, including a nonalcoholic version, was described as sweet, sour, spicy, and salty; the tequila version used tamarind syrup, grapefruit juice, ice, and a Tajin rim. A real-banana daiquiri was another option.

Reserve the complimentary bowling alley. Bowling is included for guests but requires a reservation; the venue also has a full bar and specialty cocktails. A golf simulator is located nearby.

Try the golf simulator beside the bowling lanes if you want a second indoor activity during the hottest part of the day.

Have the butler reserve Margarita, the Mexican restaurant. The meal included marlin resembling a fried fish taco, pork cracklings with fresh vegetables and guacamole, pork shank, salmon with mango sauce and corn, cheesecake, and fig tartlet.

Watch the circus show after dinner. The performers were described as talented, though later-week fire shows and a foam party sounded more appealing if your stay includes them.

If karaoke is running after the evening sports broadcast, visit the Sports Bar. During the documented stay, karaoke was delayed while Mexico played in the World Cup; a DJ was also scheduled in the sports lounge.

Finish with a smoked mezcal Old Fashioned at the Lobby Bar. The cocktail was described as smoky and smooth, and Alejandro was singled out for making an especially good drink.

Use the final morning for one last Lazy River float, then check out at noon. Guests may remain on the property until 5 p.m., allowing time for a final pool or beach break even after leaving the room.
