Plan notes
Useful context before you go
This is a source-faithful budget plan based on a stated five-day Sapa itinerary. The creator's benchmark is about $369 per person including flights, hotels, food, transport, tours, and entrance fees when traveling with a partner. Budget roughly $13–$30 per night for a homestay, $30–$50 for a mid-range hotel, or up to $150–$200 for high-end lodging. Pre-book activities because online rates may be cheaper. For arrival, fly to Hanoi first, then choose the overnight sleeper bus at about $10, the more private cabin bus at about $15, the night train at about $35–$40, or a two- or three-day organized tour from Hanoi. Spring and autumn generally offer clearer views; winter is colder and mistier, while June–August can make trekking slippery because of heavy rain. Arrange an eSIM before arrival: the source gives benchmarks of about $7 for seven days or $15 for 30 days of unlimited data. Download offline maps and Grab, especially because ordinary taxis may not use meters. Scooter rental is around $6 per day plus about $1 per liter of diesel, but mountainous roads require a valid license, helmet, and confidence. Pack light rain protection, warm layers, sturdy walking shoes, and a small day bag for village treks. The source's cost figures may change.
