Plan notes
Useful context before you go
Bergen works well as a compact two-day city-and-nature escape: allow time for Bryggen, the waterfront food scene, and two mountain viewpoints. Pack a waterproof layer, warm hat, sturdy shoes, snacks, and water; the weather can change quickly and Bergen is exceptionally rainy. For mobile data, set up an eSIM before departure so you are connected on arrival. The Fløibanen can be booked through terminals, a queue, or its app; consider walking down from Mount Fløyen. For Ulriken, public transport from the city center is inexpensive, while the cable car is faster but costly. If hiking both peaks, carry food and water rather than relying on mountain facilities.

What is in this plan
Day 1 Bryggen, waterfront food and Mount Fløyen
Keep the first day centered on the compact harbor and Fløyen area. The waterfront combines Bergen's heritage sights with the creator's most detailed food stops. Take the funicular up and walk down for a more active mountain experience, but leave room for rain delays.

Day 2 Mount Ulriken and a traditional Bergen dinner
Use the second day for Ulriken and a deliberate restaurant splurge. Public transport connects the city center to the cable-car area for about 3.50 as described. Bring water and a picnic if you hike; the creator specifically noted having neither snacks nor water on the mountain.
-
Ulriksbanen Lower StationUlriksbanen Lower Station, Haukelandbakken, Bergen, Norway

Bryggeloftet & Stuene RestaurantBryggeloftet & Stuene Restaurant, Bryggen, Bergen, Norway
Stay for the veiled peasant girl trifle, a layered rhubarb-and-strawberry dessert. Fruit changes seasonally; the winter version may use rhubarb and apple. The dessert was described as small and around 20, so treat it as a flavor-focused finish rather than a budget meal.
