Plan notes

Useful context before you go

This source-faithful route follows a 10-day Scottish road trip, with the final NC500 stretch running through Lochinver, Ullapool, Corrieshalloch Gorge, Victoria Falls, Bealach na Bà, and Eilean Donan before continuing to Glenfinnan, the Meeting of Three Waters, and Loch Ness. Allow extra time for narrow roads, steep hairpins, photo stops, and changing weather. Bring sturdy footwear for slippery paths, towels and a cooler for the Meeting of Three Waters, and plan early starts for busy places such as Glenfinnan and Loch Ness. The route source notes that the NC500 can also fill two to three weeks, but this plan preserves the 10-day duration described. A rental car is essential for this road-trip sequence; the route also ends with a sleeper train toward London.
