Plan notes
Useful context before you go
This is a compact, source-faithful two-day Shenzhen shopping itinerary built around modern malls, historic retail streets, distinctive bookstores, luxury hospitality and standout dining. Expect hot weather at outdoor and semi-outdoor venues. At OH Bay, ordering through a QR code is part of the experience; allow extra time even when a tea shop looks quiet, since the queue may be managed digitally. Useful price benchmarks include approximately 159 RMB for selected clothing at YesStyle, about 388 RMB for three clothing pieces, 49–89 RMB for phone accessories at Shining New, 67 RMB for surname music boxes, 69 RMB for surname tea cups, 138 RMB for two-cup gift sets, 69.9 RMB for selected blind boxes, approximately 138 RMB per cocktail at Mo Bar, and around 20 USD per cocktail. At Dongmen Old Street, compare the beef pie, skewers, stinky tofu and sit-down restaurants, while keeping room for the reservation-only-style dining experience at The Bay by Chef Fei. The luxury hotel stay adds club privileges, laundry service, a skyline shower view, complimentary soft drinks and beer, and in-room telescope access.

Itinerary highlights
What is in this plan
Day 1 OH Bay, Zhongshuge & Nantou Ancient Town
Begin with Shenzhen’s water-facing, semi-outdoor shopping environment, then shift from contemporary retail to traditional lanes and locally styled boutiques. The OH Bay stops work well in the daytime heat because the mall combines indoor and outdoor areas. Leave the afternoon for Nantou Ancient Town, where the visual contrast between old alleys, oriental design and Shenzhen’s surrounding modern skyline is the main attraction.

OH BayOH Bay, Bao'an District, Shenzhen, China
Start at the semi-outdoor mall beside the bay. The large Ferris wheel and water views create a calmer opening to a busy shopping day, while the indoor-outdoor layout gives you places to cool down between stores.

Order the apple milk tea through the shop’s QR-code ordering system rather than assuming you need to queue at a counter. The featured drink was described as very milky, strongly apple-fragrant and priced as an everyday tea-shop purchase; allow for a potentially long digital queue even when the shop appears empty.

Browse the feminine Korean-style clothing selection and check fabric quality before buying. The featured shopping run totaled about 388 RMB for three pieces, approximately 57 USD, with individual clothing prices around 159 RMB. The beach dress and ribbon-detail skirt were highlighted purchases.

Visit this highly theatrical bookstore for its curved, non-linear shelving and elaborate movie-set-like interior. Most books are in Mandarin, and the store also carries souvenirs, children’s toys and decorative puzzle-style objects. It is best treated as both a design stop and a browsing experience.

Nantou Ancient TownNantou Ancient Town, Nanshan District, Shenzhen, China
Use Nantou Ancient Town as the day’s historical counterpoint to Shenzhen’s skyscrapers. Wander the attractive alleys and look for the blend of traditional oriental architecture, saturated colors and modern retail styling that makes this one of the source itinerary’s most distinctive shopping areas.

Look for the phone cases, magnetic accessories and phone straps, including the pearl-detail designs. The featured prices ranged from approximately 49 RMB for a basic magnetic accessory to 89 RMB for a pearl version and 99–129 RMB for selected cases. Test the magnet and strap strength before purchasing.

Day 2 Mandarin Oriental, UpperHills, Dongmen & Chef Fei
Make this the higher-spend day: settle into the luxury hotel, explore the connected UpperHills complex around sunset, then move to Dongmen Old Street for neon, shopping and street food. Change before the evening bar visit, and keep lunch flexible enough for the full tasting sequence at The Bay by Chef Fei the following day or later on Day 2.

Explore the duty-free mall directly beneath the hotel. Its semi-outdoor restaurant zone, indoor-outdoor design and live music make it more atmospheric than a conventional enclosed mall, especially around sunset. The complex was described as newly opened in August 2025, so confirm individual store hours before going.

Stop at the Pop Mart storefront within the UpperHills complex while the outdoor dining and live-music area is active. The combination of collectible design, open-air architecture and sunset lighting makes this a strong contemporary shopping stop.

Go after dark for the city’s large pedestrian shopping-and-food corridor. Browse the dense mix of shops and malls, use the free magnetic charging pods when available, and look for the giant LED screen that gives the street its futuristic nighttime character.

Browse the large Miniso Land branch without the long entrance queue described elsewhere. Look for Toy Story collaborations, useful bag charms, blind boxes and burger-shaped collectibles; selected items were shown at approximately 69.9–129 RMB.

Use the street-food section for a grazing meal rather than filling up at one restaurant. The featured options included a flaky fried beef pie with minced beef and a Sichuan-pepper note, skewers, stinky tofu and sit-down restaurants. The beef pie was described as approximately an 8-out-of-10 stop.

Reserve this for a dressed-up evening. The rooftop bar has a romantic skyline atmosphere, welcome snacks including fried wonton with Sichuan pepper and fried peanuts, and cocktails priced around 138 RMB each. A non-alcoholic butterfly-pea, lavender, pineapple and soda drink is available; the featured alcoholic option combined gin, Aperol, guava, rose and pear.

Make this the trip’s signature meal. The restaurant received one diamond from the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide, and Chef Fei was described as a two-star Michelin chef. Order the recommended chili-marinated poached stem lettuce, peach oolong tea with cold- and hot-brew service, lobster soup with seafood dumplings, roasted crispy chicken with flax seeds, boneless fish congee and the fake milk lava bun. Save the dessert for last: its crumbly top and warm milk-like center were the standout details.
