Plan notes
Useful context before you go
This is a fast-moving, social group-tour route combining historic cities, regional food, wine, castles, beaches, and built-in downtime. The source itinerary covers Portugal from Porto to the Algarve and Lisbon, with an extension to Sintra, Batalha, Nazaré, and Óbidos. Late April to early May offers a useful balance of sunshine and comfortable sightseeing weather. Pack comfortable shoes for Porto, Lisbon, Évora, and Óbidos; a light rain layer for changeable northern weather; and room in your luggage for cork goods and edible-chocolate-cup ginjinha stops. A private group bus is the most convenient way to reproduce the full route, while the source specifically highlights the Nazaré funicular. Plan time for regional specialties including francesinha, pastel de nata, chanfana, pork with clams, grilled fish, octopus, Alentejo soup, port, vinho verde, ginjinha, and Portuguese cooking-class dishes.
