Plan notes
Useful context before you go
This ultimate overland and wilderness adventure combines backcountry camping, high-intensity outdoor recreation, technical trail crawling, and epic national park exploration across Arkansas, Utah, New Mexico, and California. For dispersed camping and overlanding, carry recovery traction boards, tire deflators/compressors for soft sand navigation, reliable off-grid water filtration, and bear-proof food storage. When taking on exposed sandstone routes or high-elevation ridges like Angels Landing, always secure required day-use permits well in advance, pack sticky-rubber approach footwear, and carry at least 3 to 4 liters of water per person. Check seasonal road closures, especially around mountain passes in Lassen Volcanic and high Sierra sections.
