Plan notes
Useful context before you go
This is an 11-day expedition built around approximately 4 days crossing the Drake Passage, 5 days in Antarctica, and organized air and ground logistics between Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, and the ship. Plan for highly variable sea conditions: bring several seasickness remedies, including pressure-point wristbands, behind-the-ear patches, and ginger chews. Pack within the stated 50 lb / 23 kg guideline and use soft-sided luggage where possible; checked bags are handled by the expedition team from the hotel or airport through delivery to the suite. A veranda stateroom provides a private outdoor viewing position for surprise wildlife announcements, while the ship carries 24 Zodiacs, kayaks, and two submarines. Drones are not permitted; a compact 360 camera is more suitable for documenting the expedition. Most ship dining, drinks, Wi-Fi, excursions, and activities are included, while kayaking and submarine excursions cost extra. Warm layers, waterproof outerwear, gloves, hat, and footwear suitable for wet landings are essential.

What is in this plan
Days 1-2 Buenos Aires arrival and pre-cruise stay
Arrive two days before embarkation to absorb the long journey and reduce the risk of missing the charter. Use the two hotel bases to experience distinct neighborhoods before the expedition begins.
-
Ministro Pistarini International AirportMinistro Pistarini International Airport, Ezeiza, Argentina
Fly from Greenville-Spartanburg to Miami, then take the overnight flight to Ministro Pistarini International Airport. The travelers used points for the outbound routing and reported roughly $1,200 per person as a round-trip economy benchmark.

InterContinental Buenos AiresInterContinental Buenos Aires, Moreno 809, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Stay here on arrival for the first Buenos Aires night. Its business-district setting makes it a practical decompression base before exploring a second neighborhood.

Alvear Palace HotelAlvear Palace Hotel, Avenida Alvear 1891, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Move to this elegant Recoleta base for the second night. The French-influenced neighborhood is well placed for high-fashion streets, restaurants, history, and the nearby cemetery.

Sherpa Food ToursSherpa Food Tours, Palermo, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Take the private neighborhood food tour as a concentrated introduction to Buenos Aires. Expect choripán-style sausage, empanadas, steak, asado, wine, and gin and tonics.

Use the food tour's Palermo base to see the city's chic bar and restaurant district. This is the most social and contemporary neighborhood stop in the pre-cruise schedule.

Use the hotel change as a low-effort way to compare the business district and Recoleta. Keep the evening gentle after the food tour and prepare for the early charter transfer.

Day 3 Ushuaia embarkation and final supplies
The ship's organized charter transfer begins early. Leave checked luggage out before the stated evening deadline and keep only a carry-on accessible until the expedition team delivers bags to the suite.
-
Jorge Newbery AirportJorge Newbery Airport, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Board the organized JetSMART charter from Buenos Aires' regional airport. The flight took about three and a half hours, with the middle seat left open in a business-class-style arrangement.

Ushuaia–Malvinas Argentinas International AirportUshuaia–Malvinas Argentinas International Airport, Ushuaia, Argentina
Arrive here before the included bus transfer to the cruise terminal. Keep the carry-on with seasickness remedies, camera equipment, and warm layers while checked luggage is transferred separately.

Ushuaia Cruise TerminalUshuaia Cruise Terminal, Ushuaia, Argentina
Take the included approximately 15-minute bus ride from the airport. The expedition team manages luggage onward, so this is the point to confirm that your carry-on contains everything needed for embarkation.

UshuaiaUshuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina
Take a short walk through town while the ship remains in port. The setting feels small, windy, and remote, with shops serving travelers heading toward Patagonia and Antarctica.

Patagonia Brewing UshuaiaPatagonia Brewing, Ushuaia, Argentina
Stop here for a beer before departure. It is a practical final-town pause rather than a full excursion, especially with embarkation and the rough-water crossing ahead.

Ushuaia Cruise TerminalUshuaia Cruise Terminal, Ushuaia, Argentina
Board the expedition ship here. The room may be ready quickly after check-in; use the remaining time to orient yourself before the evening departure.

Days 4-5 Drake Passage crossing
Treat the crossing as a recovery and orientation phase. Conditions may range from Drake Lake to Drake Shake, with reported swells of roughly 3 to 3.5 meters. Keep remedies available and use indoor venues, lectures, the gym, and the sauna between deck sightings.
-
Drake PassageDrake Passage, Southern Ocean
Cross the world's roughest body of water. The ship reached Antarctica early after approximately two days because conditions were relatively calm, but prepare for substantially rougher seas.

Use pressure-point wristbands, behind-the-ear patches, and ginger chews as the preferred layered approach to motion sickness. Bring multiple options even if you usually tolerate cruises well.

Spend sheltered time in the Discovery Center for mandatory gatherings, lectures, the captain's welcome, and expedition briefings. Its ledges are useful for setting down a camera during presentations.

Use the Expedition Lounge as the central meeting point before activities and landings. Its bar, fireplaces, and position by the embarkation decks make it the operational heartbeat of the ship.

Use the gym when sea conditions allow. The treadmills can be challenging in heavy motion, while the weights, ellipticals, cables, and separate floor-mat room provide steadier alternatives.

Recover in the dry sauna and rainfall shower after the crossing. The sauna was reported to be quiet, with room to pour water over the rocks and look outside.

Days 6-7 Seabourn Venture shipboard immersion
Use the ship as a destination during sea days and weather interruptions. Indoor venues are especially valuable in polar climates; outdoor heaters, blankets, fireplaces, and the heated pool extend time outside when conditions permit.
-
Drake PassageDrake Passage, Southern Ocean
Book or enjoy the entry-level veranda stateroom. Every suite has a balcony, and the walk-in closet, extra hangers, and small heater are useful for drying or pre-warming polar layers.

Use the private balcony for quick wildlife checks when the captain announces a sighting. It avoids a full scramble into outdoor gear and can be particularly useful for late-night whale sightings.

Visit this forward-facing quiet lounge for floor-to-ceiling windows and afternoon tea on sea days. It is a strong indoor alternative for watching the polar seascape without standing outside.

Days 8-11 Antarctica wildlife, landings, and return crossing
The Antarctic phase lasts about five days and is the expedition's main focus. Daily plans are shaped by weather and wildlife, so treat the schedule as flexible. Keep cameras ready on deck and in the expedition staging areas, and expect Zodiac landings and changing conditions rather than a fixed sightseeing route.

Use the expedition landing program to step onto the seventh continent. Landings are operated with Zodiacs and depend on weather, sea state, and expedition decisions.

Take part in the Zodiac excursions used to approach the Antarctic coastline and wildlife. Waterproof outer layers and gloves should remain accessible because transfers are exposed and wet.
