Plan notes
Useful context before you go
This source-faithful plan is for a five-day Celebrity Xcel sailing, focused entirely on the ship experience. Pack seasickness bands or patches, a portable charger, towel bands, water shoes, magnetic hooks, and a non-surge-protected power strip. Expect limited outlets on one side of the bed, firm mattresses, tight storage, and a potentially narrow path to the balcony when the trundle bed is open. If choosing a cabin, favor a lower deck with no public space directly above, below, or beside it. Reserve or arrive early for entertainment: at least 30 minutes for the main theater and about an hour for performances in The Bazaar. Prioritize included dining at the Main Dining Rooms, Ocean View Cafe, and Spice, while treating specialty restaurants as optional rather than essential. The Sunset Bar is best planned around sunset, and the pool valet between the main pool and the Solarium is useful for securing belongings. The thermal-suite hydro pool has no stairs and may be challenging for guests with mobility limitations.

What is in this plan
Day 1: Embarkation and First Ship Impressions
Embarkation is described as quick and uncomplicated. Begin with the outdoor promenade and work inward through the ship’s major visual spaces before settling into the cabin.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
Boarding was smooth, with no meaningful lines or confusion. Have the boarding pass ready and expect a direct walk toward the gangway.
-

The Deck 5 outdoor promenade leads into the art gallery. Look for the bright glass sculpture that resembles a Pokémon rendered as fine art.
-

From the upper level, the chandelier towers over the Grand Plaza. The railing provides a layered view toward the Martini Bar and is a natural first-day photo stop.
-

This flagship combines boutique displays, Celebrity history, artwork, memorabilia, and items for sale. It is an easy detour immediately after boarding.
-

The dark passage and bright LED arches create a short, immersive transition between the flagship and The Bazaar.
-

The Bazaar is dramatic and visually memorable, with a central cocktail bar, performance stage, giant windows, red-and-black arches, and ocean views. Flat seating makes front-row arrival important for shows.
Day 2: Cabin Reality and Casual Dining
Use the second day to understand the cabin’s practical strengths and limitations, then focus on the casual food venues that performed especially well.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
An aft Deck 12 cabin offers a large balcony and wake view, but only two small chairs and a tiny table. The balcony becomes difficult to access when the trundle bed is open.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The cabin’s firm mattress and children’s trundle bedding were repeatedly criticized. There were no mattress toppers available, so raise bedding concerns early if comfort is an issue.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
There is a power outlet on only one side of the bed, and storage requires using every available space, including under-bed luggage storage. A non-surge-protected power strip and magnetic hooks are practical preparation items.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The standard bathroom shower is relatively spacious, although the water temperature may drift between warm and cold.
-

This buffet offers ocean-view seating and was consistently considered one of the stronger dining choices. It is a good low-friction meal option when you do not want a formal restaurant.
-

Spice is tucked beside The Bazaar and can be easy to overlook. Its fresh grab-and-go options, sandwiches, coffee, and juice make it useful for quick meals.
Day 3: Dining Comparison and Family-Friendly Spaces
Make this the main food-and-family day. The included dining rooms are flexible and consistently strong, while several paid venues are best approached selectively.
-

Mosaic has curved booths, deep colors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a polished atmosphere. The jumbo lump crab cake was a standout, while the Caribbean menu was judged less flavorful than expected.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The four Main Dining Rooms share a core menu while adding distinct themes and atmospheres. Flexible arrival times make them a dependable alternative to specialty dining.
-

Le Voyage is intimate, with excellent service and elaborate presentation, but the food did not clearly outperform the Main Dining Rooms.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
Bora Brunch exceeded expectations, especially for adults seeking a more polished brunch experience. The dishes were considered too elaborate for the children in the group.
-

A La Petite Chef is especially engaging for children because of its presentation and theatrical format, although the food itself is secondary to the experience.
-

Craft Social charges extra for casual dining, but the honey Sriracha wings were considered worth the price. Elmer the bartender was also praised for exceptionally personal service.
Day 4: Bars, Games, and Evening Entertainment
Use the fourth day for the ship’s social and entertainment spaces. Plan ahead for popular venues because seating and entry queues can substantially affect the experience.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The Martini Bar sits beneath the Grand Plaza chandelier show and has excellent bartenders, but seats can be difficult to find during busy periods.
-

Attic is a retro arcade inside The Club. It works well for both children and adults, especially for a casual foosball rematch or short drop-in between activities.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
Entry involves a photo booth and a wait that can exceed an hour. The pager signal may not extend outside The Club, so remain nearby while waiting. Sessions last one hour and may include live music, a magician, or themed entertainment.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The expanded casino felt spacious and comfortable compared with other cruise casinos, and it is entirely smoke-free.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The Club hosts live music, trivia, contests, and the Saddle Up Saloon show. Balcony seating and dark lighting make the venue feel especially immersive, and the saloon show attracted large crowds.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The main theater has curved seating, a wraparound LED screen, and a circular stage. Arrive at least 30 minutes early for good seats; 45 minutes is safer for a strong view.
Day 5: Pools, Wellness, Sunset, and Departure Perspective
Finish the sailing with the quieter outdoor and wellness spaces, then deliberately schedule sunset. Use the final day to apply the practical lessons about seating, queues, cabin placement, and valuables.
-

The Camp at Sea program is intended for children under 13. On a lightly occupied sailing it may feel spacious, but capacity could feel very different on holiday departures.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The Basement is generally reserved for teenagers. Its availability and crowding may vary significantly depending on the number of children sailing.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The Solarium maintains a calm atmosphere. The spa cafe has been removed, so plan refreshments elsewhere rather than expecting a cafe within this space.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The thermal suite has more heated loungers than earlier ships and includes a Vitamin D Deck for sun and shade. The hydro pool is compact and has no stairs, requiring guests to sit on the edge and swing their legs in.
-
Sanguich BaysideSanguich Bayside, Bayside Marketplace, Miami, Florida, USA
The Sunset Bar combines ocean views, comfortable seating, and a strong evening atmosphere. Arrive early because the best seats fill quickly, and plan at least one sunset here deliberately.
-

The pool valet sits between the main pool and the Solarium and provides a lock-and-key place for belongings. Use it instead of searching for an unattended lounger to store valuables.
