Plan notes

Useful context before you go

Plan this as an overnight journey: the motorbike ride from Chiang Mai takes about five hours, followed by the forest walk to the waterfall. Set out early enough to reach the village before dark. Rain turned parts of the route muddy, steep sections remained demanding, and cloud reduced visibility almost to zero; the creators also describe riding with a passenger and packed gear, with the passenger walking while the driver took the overloaded bike through a muddy stretch. Stock up on snacks and food near Omkoi before continuing into the remote area. Register for waterfall access through its Facebook page before setting out; use that page to check current access arrangements and the village homestay list. Road conditions, access rules, and schedules can change.

Beyond the paved road, mud after rain made travel difficult: two people and packed gear weighed down the automatic motorbike, so the passenger walked while the driver guided it throu…
