Plan notes
Useful context before you go
This dual-country route bridges Japan's polished urban efficiency and timeless shrines with China's expansive ancient history and dramatic karst landscapes. When traveling between Japan and China, ensure your passport has at least six months' validity and verify visa rules for China (or utilize available transit visa exemptions). In Japan, purchase an IC Card (Suica/Pasmo) for effortless metro travel and short-distance trains; for long-distance transit, bullet train seats can be reserved via the SmartEX app or regional rail passes. In China, download WeChat and Alipay beforehand and bind an international credit card for digital payments, mobile transport scans, and ride-hailing. For China connectivity, set up an international eSIM or VPN prior to departure. Pack comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate layered clothing for varied climates, and a universal power adapter.
