Only about 75-85 people live here year-round, so the vibe is tight-knit and community-driven. Summer is the main window (June through September, peaking from the Fourth of July weekend through Labor Day), while winter can be snowy, quiet, and brilliantly starry. Bring backup food if services are shut down, because a flood year can close the lodge/store/restaurant and leave you on your own supplies or dehydrated meals. Stehekin feels like an inland island: two main clusters, one at the landing and one up the valley around the bakery and homes.
