This is a full one-day drive through the waterfall area. Monsoon rain can make steps and paths slippery; bring a raincoat or umbrella and shoes with good grip. Check current entry cutoffs, rules and vehicle charges before setting out. For travel from Howrah, train options listed include the Shatabdi Express (about 7 hr 10 min), Vande Bharat (about 7 hr 25 min), Intercity services, and the overnight Kriya Yoga Express. The creator drove for this circuit. Train times and operating days can change, so confirm the schedule for your travel date.

What is in this plan
Day 1: Sikidiri, Hundru, Dassam and Jonha Falls
The route begins at Sikidiri Ghati, then continues to Hundru Falls and Dassam Falls before heading toward Jonha Falls. The Hundru-to-Dassam drive took about 1 hour 45 minutes and roughly 75 km; Dassam is about 30 km from Ranchi, around 1 to 1¼ hours by road. The Dassam-to-Jonha drive was described as scenic in the rain and fog, with green hills; the creator preferred this approach to the route to Jonha from Khunti. Allow time for the long Hundru stair descent and check entry cutoffs: Jonha’s st…

SikidiriSikidiri, Jharkhand, India
This scenic valley is on the way to the first waterfall. Pause for the green-hill views before continuing toward Hundru Falls; the precise turnout is not established, so use Sikidiri as the map reference.
-
Hundru FallsHundru Falls, Jharkhand, India
Reaching the falls involves a descent of roughly 750–800 steps; the way down took about 10 minutes. The creator did not need a guide. The steps were in good condition but slippery in the rain, so take care and bring a raincoat or umbrella. Handmade souvenir stalls beside the falls make items on site; the creators paid ₹50 per item, a reported visit price rather than a current price.
-
Dassam FallsDassam Falls, Jharkhand, India
The walk from the parking area is short compared with Hundru’s long stair descent. Wear proper shoes rather than sandals, especially in wet weather. A four-wheeler was charged ₹50 during the creator’s visit; vehicle charges can vary. A viewpoint offers a frontal view, where spray and mist can reach the viewing area.

Sita FallsSita Falls, Jharkhand, India
Optional addition: Sita Falls is described as 6–7 km from Jonha Falls. The creators did not visit because they reached Jonha at 5 p.m., after Sita Falls’ stated 4 p.m. last entry. If including it, plan to arrive earlier and check the current cutoff; this is not a stop from the creators’ visited route.
-
Jonha FallsJonha Falls, Jharkhand, India
The creators arrived at 5 p.m., the stated last-entry time on their visit. From the side they used, the falls were visible from the front with little to no walking. Their visit was in heavy rain and cloudy weather; leave enough time for the approach and check the current entry cutoff.
