Plan notes

Useful context before you go

This source-faithful route suits a culturally curious explorer combining major cities, ancient archaeology, dramatic landscapes, beaches, and less-touristed regional destinations. Allow three days for Istanbul, use an Istanbul city card for ferries and public transport, and prefer Uber over taxis in Istanbul to reduce price gouging. Uber does not operate in Cappadocia, where taxis, minibuses, or a rental car are the practical options. For the Turkish Riviera, a rental car is the most flexible choice; alternatively, ask your hotel to arrange a private van or driver between Antalya, Kaş, Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, and Bodrum. Carry modest clothing for mosques and religious sites, comfortable footwear for archaeological ruins, swimwear for the Mediterranean, and sun protection. Pamukkale requires barefoot walking in designated travertine areas. Confirm opening hours, entrance fees, ferry schedules, border requirements, and seasonal access before departure. Butterfly Valley is best for butterfly sightings between June and October, and hiking down to it is recommended only for experienced hikers.
